As we embarked on our second day, we excitedly made our way to the University of Bengkulu, one of the most prestigious universities in Bengkulu, Indonesia. Initially, I had misgivings about the size of the university, thinking it would be small and similar to other universities I had visited in the Philippines. However, my preconceived notions were quickly shattered when we took a tour around the campus. The university was massive, reminiscent of the sprawling University of the Philippines in Los Banos, Laguna. The university's campus was a stunning sight to behold. The vast range of buildings was impressive, and the lush greenery that surrounded the campus created a serene and tranquil atmosphere. We were first taken to the Education department, where we were given a guided tour of the campus. I was struck by how the university's vision and mission were firmly rooted in catering to the needs of the students and providing a quality education system.
Our Indonesian friends (buddies), Arjun, Lala, and Irene, helped us tour around the campus, as most of the features were written in Bahasa language. Despite the language barrier, we could still appreciate the similarities between the university's infrastructure and that of the Philippines. We also visited the library and the computer library, both of which were well-equipped and spacious. The main building was awe-inspiring, with its impressive architecture and towering pillars. We had the pleasure of meeting some of the staff who were very welcoming and helpful. They wished us the best on our journey and made us feel right at home.
