Teaching at SD Sing Carolus in Bengkulu, Indonesia has been a profoundly enriching experience for me as a pre-service teacher. Witnessing the genuine joy and excitement on the faces of my students has been a source of immense fulfillment. The warm reception from the students, who were eager to engage with us as newcomers, created an atmosphere of enthusiasm and curiosity in the classroom. What struck me most was the remarkable discipline exhibited by the students in adhering to even the simplest rules. Their respect for the learning environment and each other reflected a strong foundation of values instilled within them. This discipline, coupled with their kindness and willingness to learn, contributed to a positive and conducive atmosphere for teaching and learning.
As I interacted with the students, I couldn't help but be impressed by how deeply rooted they were in their cultural norms. It was a beautiful blend of traditional values and an openness to new experiences. The students embodied a harmonious balance between preserving their cultural identity and embracing the diversity that our international presence brought to their classrooms. On a personal level, these experiences have fueled my passion for teaching. The joy reflected in my students' eyes as they grasped new concepts or engaged in educational activities became a driving force for me to strive further in my professional journey. The connection forged with the students and the school community transcends the typical teacher-student dynamic; it's a shared exploration of knowledge and cultural exchange. Being a part of SD Sing Carolus has not only deepened my understanding of effective teaching strategies but has also broadened my perspective on the transformative power of education. The mutual respect and eagerness to learn displayed by the students have become foundational pillars in my evolving philosophy of education. As I navigate through this teaching journey, I am grateful for the profound impact these young minds have had on my growth as an aspiring educator.
